AAFN and GRFN to contest RHT Lawyer’s fees in court.

Aitikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation (AAFN) and Garden River First Nation (GRFN) are challenging the legal fees brought forth by the Robinson Huron Treaty Litigation process and litigation lawyers.

    The amount that was awarded was considerably higher than expected and the 21 bands will benefit accordingly. It could have gone the other way.
    The bands had a contract with the lawyers. It is dishonourable to contest the fee at this point. The firm has already agreed to accept half of what they were owed according to the original agreement. The only objection I have is that they want to specify how the forfeited other half is to be used.
