Position: DZ Driver
Starting Wage: $20.31 – $25.92 (Pending Qualifications)
Location: 216 Noonday Drive, Garden River
Report to: Aggregates Supervisor / Highway Coordinator

OVERVIEW
The DZ Driver has a dual role as a Delivery Driver in the summer and a Snow Plow Operator in the winter. The DZ Driver is
responsible for maintaining clean equipment, providing great customer service, and keeping detailed records. The DZ Driver
functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs, and Visions of the Garden
River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Safely operate dump trucks and snow plow trucks to transport gravel and sand/plow highways
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Present customers with their invoices while making gravel deliveries and collect payments
• Notify supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
• Driving, operating, performing safety checks and loading the sander/plow in all types of weather conditions including
extreme conditions, on four main routes
• Performing general maintenance duties including cleaning trucks, refilling DEF, etc.
• Completing computer data forms for Ministry of Transportation (MTO)
o Displaying usage of salt, sand, and pre-wet materials
o Recording start/stop and turnaround times
o Recording circle checks
• Performing other duties as may be required or assigned;

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid DZ licence
• 3 years experience driving dump truck / snow plow
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
• Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
• Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
• Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment;
• Willingness to accept changes in work practices and technology;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
• Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
• Excellent computer skills (including Scale software, MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
• Able to work in all weather conditions;
• Ability to report to work regularly as scheduled;
• Must undergo a criminal records check prior to employment (At Applicants’ Expense)
