Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Starting Wage: $32.70 – $41.74 (Pending Qualifications)
Location: 216 Noonday Drive, Garden River
Report to: Working Supervisor

OVERVIEW
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing Garden River Aggregates equipment including dump
trucks, loaders, excavators etc. by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and servicing company equipment. The Heavy Equipment
Mechanic functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs, and Visions of
the Garden River First Nation, and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform duties such as inspections, oil changes and preventative maintenance
• Detect and diagnose operating problems in frames and steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, brakes, ignition,
axles, fuel systems, engine management systems, suspension systems, electrical systems, emissions control systems and air
conditioning
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• Maintain accurate records of servicing and repairs
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
• Performing other duties as may be required or assigned;

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid 310S or 310T License
• Grade 12 diploma
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions;
• Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
• Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team;
• Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
• Excellent computer skills (including Scale software, MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Internet, Email, Outlook);
• Able to work in all weather conditions;
• Ability to report to work regularly as scheduled;
• Must undergo a criminal records check prior to employment (At Applicants’ Expense)
